Sustainability and European Law in Milan: a meeting promoted by the Sant'Anna School as part of the AENEAS project

The meeting, entitled “La sfida del diritto europeo della sostenibilità per la catena del valore”, scheduled for June 6 at 9:00 a.m. at Palazzo Castiglioni, Sala Colucci, Corso Venezia, Milan, will bring together representatives from academia, the professions, business, institutions, and civil society in a dialogue on the impact and prospects of European sustainability law, with particular reference to the context of value chain management.
The challenge posed by the new regulatory framework will be discussed in four thematic sessions. The first is dedicated to an interdisciplinary examination of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) within the regulatory and legislative framework on sustainability that is developing at European and international level.
The presentations in the second session will explore the approach of different companies to the issue of sustainability due diligence, highlighting its impact on corporate governance and, more generally, on the corporate paradigm.
The third session will be dedicated to exploring the impact of the CSDDD and, more generally, of the sustainability framework for supply chain governance.
The final session will involve institutional (MEF; MIMIT), academic, and professional stakeholders in a debate on the implementation of the CSDDD in the Italian context and the definition of efficient and proportionate solutions. Particular emphasis will be placed on the increasingly topical issue in the European debate of the proposed Omnibus legislation, which should also include the CSDDD in order to simplify the European regulatory framework and ensure the compatibility of sustainability programs with the growth and competitiveness objectives of European companies.
The event is organized by the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, as part of the European project AENEAS (European Due Diligence Law in Global Value Chains), in collaboration with Confcommercio-Imprese per l'Italia and with the patronage of the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Milan. The meeting is supported by the following partners: ENI S.p.a., Autostrade per l'Italia, Carnà & Partners, CNR – IRISS, Iveco Group, Open-es, Saipem, Snam, TIM S.p.a.
